Big Jim Slade "Pacify The Herd" 10/10 Bitter Artist/import

With a CD/LP-collection of around 9.500 items and great connections I pride myself in having a good eye and ear at all new and interesting stuff that pops up. Well, lo and behold, don't ask me how this band succeeded in releasing two outstanding albums right under my nose! "Pacify The Herd" is Big Jim Slade's third release and I can only say one thing - I was totally blown away!!!! OK, the name might lead the mind astray a bit, and make you think of some big, fat and ugly country- or blues singer. Well, forget that! Big Jim Slade is a band, a totally mindblowingly outstanding band! To tell you the truth I have a hard time trying to describe who they sound like, as they don't really sound like anybody else. There's some King'x X, there's some southern rock, there's some Alice In Chains and lots more. They've got great originality, power, nice quirky arrangements, killer vocals and they're as tight as a rat's ass! What's more surprising is that they've produced three albums, that all deserve full score! Now, that's rare! Well, so are Big Jim Slade!  Janne Stark/Sweden Rock Magazine

Nashville Scene

"This popular local foursome play swirling hard rock with a sensibility that's evenly swayed by Southern boogie and soaring power pop, although when they merge the genres, it comes out heavier and more corrosive than you might expect-more Hendrix than Collective Soul or Cheap Trick."-Nashville Scene
